BY AIR - Daytime

FIUMICINO AIRPORT (LEONARDO DA VINCI)

During the day the airport is well connected to the centre by a direct train and the slower trains.
The direct train from Fiumicino to Termini (the main train station) costs L.16.000 (8,26 Euro) and takes approximately 30 minutes. It leaves and arrives at track 22 at Termini Station.

Where to buy the tickets
- At vending machines at Termini and Fiumicino
- At Alitalia office near track 22 at Termini (6.30am/9pm)
- At the ticket window by the platform at Fiumicino

The slower and the cheaper train is with the destination “Orte” or “Fara Sabina” it takes 46 minutes to reach Tiburtina but it does not stop at Termini. Trains leave every 20 minutes (every hour on Sunday) and cost L.8.000 (4,13Euro).

CIAMPINO AIRPORT

It is a smaller airport dealing with charter flights and budget airlines. It is well connected to line A metro station: Anagnina (about 30 minutes by metro from Termini) by Cotral bus; cost L.2.000 (1,03Euro). Buses leave every half hour.

By AIR - Night time

Fiumicino - For arrivals and departures from 11.30pm and 5am, there is a night bus between Fiumicino and Tiburtina Station.

From Fiumicino: 1.15am – 2.15am – 3.30am – 5am

From Tiburtina : 0.30am – 1.15am – 2.30am – 3.45am

The bus 40N connects Tiburtina and Termini during the night.

Ciampino - The only way to get to the centre late at night is by taxi because the buses connecting Ciampino airport and the centre of Rome stop running at 11pm.

Taxi - During the day, the average price for the ride from Fiumicino airport (or Ciampino) to the centre is L.80.000 and during the night it is more expensive.

Advise: If you need a taxi, look for the official yellow or white taxis that have meters! Or simply request a pickup service.

By TRAIN

Termini Station – Once you have gotten off the train and have walked down the platform, you will reach the main gallery. The exit by platform 1 will take you to the north side of Termini (Via Marsala towards Stargate 1, Montestella and New Age 1 &2), the exit by platform 22 will take you to the south side of Termini (Via Giovanni Giolitti towards Stargate 2 and New Age3).

Continuing away from the platforms you will reach the main hall that leads to Piazza dei Cinquecento, the largest bus terminal in Rome and also the access to the city’s two subway lines A and B. The night bus for Fiumicino stops here as well.

NB – In all major Italian train stations you will find an office to facilitating train travel for disabled people, including wheelchair use, luggage transport…

Tiburtina Station –It is easily reachable by bus and metro (line B) from the centre of Rome.
